Classic notch shape in English beech. Sold in packs of 6.
Developed from the Ottoman Bakkam notch shape, with a small flare to prevent it from slipping off your fingers/thumbs when you pull the string.
To ensure a secure fit, we suggest using a waterproof wood glue (we find that Titebond III Ultimate works best).
Do not use cyanoacrylate/superglue type glue – these become very dry and brittle under the impact of the shot – the glue will fail, causing a dry shot, damaging your bow.
This option is suitable for wooden drums with a diameter of 11/32″. Simply drill a 4mm diameter hole to the required depth in the center of your drum.
To install it, apply glue inside the hole in the shaft, push the nock into the shaft, rotate it 360 degrees to ensure the glue covers all surfaces of the nock pin, align it with the correct grain direction of your shaft, wipe off any excess glue, and let it dry according to your glue’s instructions. A little light sanding to make the joint between the nock and the shaft smooth and flush, and you’re ready to finish.
To ensure a good fit with your bowstring, a little light work to fine-tune the “click” may be necessary. Don’t force the nock onto the string holder—it should fit snugly, but not tightly. A light tap on the string should release the arrow under its own weight. This will give you a nice, clean release when shooting. For the ultimate finish and consistent shape, use our Diamond Arrow Nock Rasp .
These notches can be dyed, stained, painted, sealed, waxed, varnished, etc., to match your chosen colors. You can also follow historical examples: wrap the notch and the short portion of the shaft with sinew or silk, then add a sealant, color, or finish as desired.
Tested with a pulling weight of 70 lbs on a Fastflight rope.
